A miracle, a tow truck, and what I wish I would have said...

Yesterday was quite an eventful day.

First of all it was preparation day.  As missionaries we spend all of our time and energy doing the Lords work, but obviously we have temporal needs that need to be met.
In order to meet those needs, every Monday we have “preparation day.”
On this day we go grocery shopping, do laundry, write emails home, etc.
The first half of the day was nice.

I wrote an email to my family at the library, we had lunch, and we went to an antique shop nearby. It is literally one of my favorite places in the world and I scored an $8 pearl necklace and vintage post cards! We then went grocery shopping at Super Target, also one of my favorite places on the earth. It is my firm belief that everyone should have a Super Target within 10 minutes of their home. That would be a perfect world. We then had dinner with a member of our church and his mom.
It was so fun to listen to them tell the stories of all the road trips their family has taken over the years.
All of these little details are really beside the point……...
where the day got really interesting was after dinner...

We picked up a member of our church, and we headed out to an appointment with a guy we had met a couple days ago. We knocked on his door, his father answered and couldn't understand us, because he didn't speak English, oh how I wish I could speak Spanish, but his little sister came to the door and said he wasn't home.
On the way back to our car, Sister Jorgensen remembered Danny, another guy we had met in that same apartment complex, and suggested going to see him.
A miracle happened! He opened the door!! He invited us in!!! and we had an amazing discussion about the spirit and how it is the true source of knowledge and truth. We asked Danny if he had read the Book of Mormon before, and he said that he did and that he loved it!! Halfway through our meeting with Danny, his friend Gordon joined us. Gordon listened for a while without participating and then asked what the Book of Mormon was!! We explained that it was another testament of Jesus Christ and that we read it with the Bible. Our testimonies of the Book of Mormon were then reconfirmed as Danny testified that it was not just another book, but that it really was the word of God and that prophets of God wrote it and Joseph Smith, another prophet of God, translated it.
We were amazed to hear these words come out of Danny’s mouth.

After an amazing discussion, we left Danny and Gordon and made an appointment to return the next day.
As we walked out to the parking lot and searched for our car we realized that it was no longer where we had parked it. My initial reaction was that the car was stolen. Not good. Then someone threw out the idea that is was probably towed. Better. We ran back to Danny’s and told him what had happened and being the saint that he is, he drove us back to a member’s home and they took us to pick up our car.

Finding the towing company that towed our car was an adventure all in itself. Once we finally got there, we thanked the nice tow truck man and offered him a Mormon.org card. We invited him to check it out, and he responded, “No, that kind of thing isn't for guys like me.”
I wonder what kind of man you have to be to not even “check out” a website or have God in your life.

I wish I would have said….. I truly believe that EVERYONE can find greater happiness from the things that they will find on Mormon.org. I truly believe that everyone has room for God in their life. There is no type of person that cannot gain blessings by accepting God and Jesus Christ in their life. I know that this is the kind of thing for “guys like you” because the gospel of Jesus Christ is for everyone, regardless of age, race, sex, background or whatever you think differentiates you from others. I know we are all God’s children and that this is the” kind of thing” for everyone.

Instead of that I didn't say anything, I just thanked the nice man and wished him a good night.
But if my car is ever towed by that man again, I will make sure to tell him, I know that a guy like him would really love the Book of Mormon, even if he doesn't know it yet!

All names have been changed in this story.....except Sister Jorgensen :)
